ABOUT ME

My name is Rosli Zakaria and welcome to my Exotic Orchids of Malaysia website.

Wild orchids have been my life long passion and had taken me all over the country to record the plant habitat and to capture its beauty on celluloid. My passion had enabled me to write a series of articles on wild orchids in a dedicated column in the New Straits Times. a mainstream English daily newspaper spanning for two years from 1988.

It was this passion that inspired me to create this website which I hope to share with the public so that they could also appreciate the fragility of specimens in their respective habitat.

The more research that I carried out, the more fascinated I became of the biological oddities of the specimens and concluded that some species are best untouched to allow natural propagation in their habitat.

Much of this website is undoubtedly inspired by the need to share the knowledge and to create awareness on the need to protect orchid species from extinction.

The focus on wild orchids of Malaysia, I believe, mirrors my adventures in the country since I was captivated by its beauty 25 years ago.

I still have much to learn and I greatly welcome the sharing of ideas, opinions and experience from others, whether they are a newcomer or a veteran in this hobby.
